|Interfaith Education Meeting
The mandate of the Education Committee is to build bridges of understanding between faiths and within broader society. We seek to do this by educating people about the tradition, values and beliefs of the different religions and by helping individuals and communities of different faith backgrounds to build relationships. Our hope is that we will grow to respect our differences as well as to recognize our commonalities. We envision a strong, supportive interfaith community that acts together on issues of common concern.
In this brief presentation I will discuss the theme of this panel presentation from my perspective as a Diversity Education Consultant with Manitoba Education and Training and my more recent work with respect to religious diversity. To some degree, religious diversity has been part of the antibias and anitiracism education work I have been involved since 1984, and as well as in my work in the area of newcomer/refugee education. It has also been reflected in my involvement with Manju Lodha and Ray Dirks on a number of their projects related to religious diversity in Manitoba and art.
